SmartLink requires a compatible SmartLine control panel. To find your SmartLine control panel version, go to the Advanced Functions > About menu and select the option to view your control panel version.
- SmartLink is supported by SmartLine control panel versions 3.10 and greater. If you have version 3.10 or greater, no changes are required.
- SmartLine control panel version 3.08 can be used, but must be upgraded. Take your 3.08 panel to your Authorized Weathermatic Distributor and they will assist in the process of getting your panel upgraded.
- SmartLine control panel versions 1 series cannot be upgraded and require a new control panel. Control panels can be purchased through your Authorized Weathermatic Distributor. It is not necessary to replace the entire controller. You can simply remove the panel from the hinge and replace with a new compatible panel.

Adam,
You would need to have your panel upgraded. You can take it to an authorized Weathermatic distributor and they will work with us to get it upgraded. Also, you will need to purchase a SmartLine Aircard and Service Plan. You can purchase these from the distributor when you upgrade the control panel. The SmartLink Aircard and SmartLink Service Plan are necessary to enable web-based access to your SmartLine Controller. Carlos,
SmartLink is the only communication mechanism available at this time. We do not publish the communication protocol.

Brandon - I bought my SmartLine controller SL1600 late in 2009, but the version is 3.07. Can it be upgraded? If not, then what are my options? if my goal is to be able to operate the controller remotely from a smartphone or via the web? My confusion from the information you gave is that my controller was purchased from your dealer way after 2007, yet I have a lower version than 3.08. Also, you said the older versions of 1.05 and 1.1 cannot be upgraded leaving the possibility that 3.07 might. Please advise.
Thank you Brandon. I would appreciate a couple of clarifications.
Are you saying I need to replace the entire middle panel that swings? Is this the only way? is the same approach also even if you had version 3.08?
Also, what do you mean by purchasing a new Smartlink Aircard and service plan? do you mean the only way to have remote/wireless access to the panel (via web for example) is through purchasing a service plan and incur monthly or yearly fees?

Adam,
You can certainly upgrade your control panel. In fact, I would recommend it when you purchase a new SmartLink Aircard and Service plan in order to take full advantage of the latest firmware and assure compatibility. It's very simple to replace the panel as it simply snaps into place.
Thanks,
Brandon
