What is a weather station?
Weathermatic's series of weather stations are sensor units that measure the weather conditions on site to maximize an irrigation system's efficiency. The weather station measures temperatures and relative humidity every 8 seconds to provide the irrigation controller with near real-time weather information. Weather stations also include a rain/freeze sensor that will stop irrigating during a rain event or if temperature conditions approach freezing (37 degrees F).
Do I need a weather station?
Irrigation systems without weather stations can over water by as much as 50%, especially in areas with high rainfall. Weathermatic's weather stations maximize system efficiency by watering plants with just the right amount of water and by stopping irrigation when rainfall is providing sufficient water for plants. The water saved will lead to lower water bills and therefore more money saved. Over time, the weather sensor will pay for itself.
