Learn how to set the watering mode on your SmartLine irrigation controller using SmartLink Network by following the instructions provided below
Understanding Watering Modes
SmartLine controllers offer two watering modes:
- Smart Mode: Uses on-site weather data and user settings (sprinkler type, plant type, soil type, and slope) to calculate zone run times based on plant water requirements.
- Basic Mode: Allows zones to run for pre-set user-defined run times without considering weather data.
If your controller is connected to a Weathermatic weather sensor, it can automatically adjust watering schedules based on weather conditions.
Step 1: Log In and Select Your Controller
- Go to smartlinknetwork.com and enter your login credentials to access your account.
- On the Site Page, find the search bar and type in and select your Site Name from the search results.
- Then click on the Controller name
-OR- - Locate the Controller List at the top, then find and click the Controller name.
Step 2: Set Your Controller to Smart Mode
- Ensure your watering programs are correctly set, including start times, scheduled days, and zone run times.
- Confirm active zones by verifying that they have assigned run times.
- Double-check that your controller’s Smart Programming and location zip code are set.
Instructions:
- From the SmartLink Controller Page, Click on Edit Settings under the Run Status and Watering Mode
- Change the watering mode from Basic to Smart.
- If the Smart option is unavailable, confirm the weather sensor is connected.
- Click Save and then click Send to push the update from the SmartLink cloud to your controller.
- Verify successful communication with the green banner.
Step 3: Set Specific Zones to Basic Mode
If you want to water specific zones outside of Smart Programming, you can switch them to Basic Mode using these steps:
- Click on Edit Smart Settings.
- Select the desired zone under Program Zone Runtime.
- Click on the Zone Sprinkler Type setting.
- Change the setting to Standard Non-ET.
- Once all zones are set, click Stop Editing.
- Click Send to apply the updates.
- Verify successful communication with the controller.
Step 4: Monitor and Adjust
- Once set, your SmartLine controller will track water deficits and irrigate on the scheduled watering days and times.
- If the water deficit is insufficient for irrigation, the controller will skip the event until a sufficient deficit has accrued.
